Education for driving safety is immensely important for everyone, especially the youth, given the dangerous nature of driving and the substantial number of accidents involving younger drivers. By teaching comprehensive driving skills and instilling educational safety, we can equip young drivers with the abilities to think critically in times of urgency or simply while driving a 2000 pound machine while raising the awareness to reduce or diminish the amount of accidents involving younger drivers. The immaturity that comes with driving a vehicle for the first time creates an increased risk of accidents for teens, particularly within the first week of obtaining a license. Additionally, parental involvement plays pivotal roles in strengthening driving habits and skills, allowing teen drivers to navigate complex road conditions confidently and responsibly, reducing the deaths that come with young drivers. However, when these areas of driving education are not prioritized, with parents allowing their children to drive at any age and at any hour, as well as not communicating the blood that could be on their hands should they drive carelessly, accidents can be caused a lot more frequently and much more hazardously.

Inexperience is a leading cause of accidents, I believe students that have not learned how to operate a vehicle should not be allowed to drive said vehicle, no matter the age or separate education. The focus of driving is to specifically combat stereotypical reasons for accidents such as texting and driving, distractions or risk taking spectacles. For these reasons driving education courses create widespread availability to provide young drivers with the chance to practice safe driving. Rigorous testing taken by the Department of motor vehicles helps ensure that roads are safer for everyone. When faced by evaluations needed to keep young drivers safe, reduce the risk of crashes caused by lack of preparedness. While retakes and fines for retakes are frustrating, they become in comparison when one factors the consequences of accidents that could happen with one that is deemed not fit to drive yet. 

The reality of motor vehicle fatalities underscores the role of road safety measures. Year after year, tens of thousands of people lose their lives in car crashes, often through a combination of human error, car malfunction, or outside factors. Incidents such as these devastate and destroy families, while also putting forward the need for greater driver education and vehicle safety. When a life is lost it ripples beyond the victim and driver, it contaminates a community and family, leaving them to grieve a life that should never have been lost in such an unimaginable way. Surviving loved ones then must cope with the fact that they are alive while their mother, father, sister or brother isn't. This leads to financial hardships due to medical bills, emotional trauma, and the journey of rebuilding a life without someone who was in it everyday.

Drugs. Alcohol. Media. The main factors for vehicle accidents and deaths, around 10,000 a year for drugs, 12,000 for alcohol, and 3,000 for media use. This is no surprise or coincidence, in the state of California alone 50% of those in car accidents tested positive for drugs or alcohol in their systems. When drivers get behind the wheel intoxicated, they are not only putting themselves at risk, but passengers, pedestrians, and other drivers in grave danger. Acts like this, for minors, are especially high; underage drinking and drug use leads to catastrophic accidents along with the inexperience of driving which increases the risk. Escalating the DUI laws and educational programs made for minors would be effective strategies to combat these percentages. In California, for example, by discussing these topics, parents can better prepare their children for the dangers of driving as well as making the right decisions when it comes to how they handle friends and family that endorse underage drinking and driving.

Ultimately, ensuring road safety, especially at a young age, concerns a strategy that addresses multiple fronts. Avoiding drugs and alcohol intoxication whilst behind the wheel remains of the utmost importance. As impaired driving dramatically increases crash risks and fatal outcomes. Parental responsibility also plays a crucial role in guiding teens through safe driving practices by setting boundaries and modeling safe driving behavior for their children. Coupled with driving schools that offer the utmost education to instill defensive driving techniques and confidence. When teens are forced to face and learn from challenges rather than rushing through this process they are 100% more prepared and safer drivers. Connecting education with accountability and support, younger drivers are able to cultivate a protective surrounding where they are mindful and understand the risks of recklessness, making the roads safer for everyone.
