Many people drive distracted the Young as well as the old. I am only 20 years old, and my mother has constantly instilled in me and my brother to always drive with respect for the road and the other persons on the road. It is very very obvious that there is a lack of respect on the road because there are so many car accidents and there’s so many road rage incidents that happened in the Houston area where I am from on a regular basis we have to be kind on the road and respect each other and look out for each other on the road. I have witnessed people who have been on drugs or high driving in the communities. I have also seen people in their interaction with the police when the police pulled them over for swerving in the street or driving too fast or driving too slow because they are high on drugs or Liquored up from drinking alcohol. Being impaired can really harm other drivers as well as yourself if your mind is not free and clear to drive. You should have enough respect for yourself and others to find a designated driver or just simply stay where you are and let a family member or friend know where you are and that you are too impaired or too dangerous to get on the road to drive anywhere you put your life and others lives at risk when you do this; you should not drive find a designated driver. It is obvious that people don’t think about these things when they get behind the wheel to drive themselves to another location. I can remember my mom telling us about times when she was young driver. She said when she was a child she can remember riding in the car with her mother and seatbelt safety was not a concern back in the 1970s and 80s they will all get in the car and go for a ride or wherever they need to go but later in the late 80s and into the 90s When she started driving on her own, my grandmother, make sure that she used her safety belt before she left the house to go to school to work or church. My mother always says she can appreciate the safety belt now because safety belts seat belts save lives. She also can’t remember the time where she witnessed the car accident and nobody was wearing a seatbelt, and everybody in the vehicle was severely injured. One of the people died. I took and appreciate the use of wearing the safety belt. I feel secure when I wear it when I drive. I even remind my friends to snap their seatbelts when they’re about to get in the car, especially when they are riding with me. I make sure that they everyone is fasten in with the seatbelt in place. And for that reason, I do not like to ride in vehicles with anybody who does not like to wear a safety belt. Many of my friends think I am paranoid or petty however, I remind them of statistics on a daily basis about car crashes in the Houston and the surrounding areas. Houston seems to be the Mecca of car accidents. There’s accidents on the highway in Houston on a daily basis and for some odd reason it doesn’t seem to done on the people that you must wear your seatbelt and you must not drive distracted. It would be a travesty a tragedy oh such a sad situation, bad consequence to live with if you’re on the road, and you are distracted by texting or talking on the phone or watching a video while driving the car and you hit somebody and injured or killed that person. Oh my goodness; that would be an awful thing and it would really be painful and awful to live with yourself knowing that you caused such an accident. Think about this would you want to deal with and live your life knowing that you are the cause of pain hurt and despair in the lives of other others? No I don’t think you or anyone would want that. Think five times before you decide to get in your vehicle, drunk or high or even angry for that matter. Therefore, please don’t let it be said that it’s too late. Stop it and quit it while you are ahead. You must focus on the road at hand; and focus on yourself and the environment and people on the road around you. Do the right thing that you learned when you took the driver’s ed courses. Then, you can be safe and remain safe on the highways and byways.
