Impaired Driving: Why its important to stay safe

What I think impaired driving is not being able to stay focused, being fatigued from things, and being under the influence of alcohol. Some think it's fine, I will make it, and they don't have anyone else who can drive for them. They think that it's only up to them to do it. They think it's normal to be like that, and they have done it before, so why would they change that? If they didn't crash at all before, then they think they won't crash at all. Also, since drivers are 15 years old and above, they think they are responsible enough to make it, and that's what adults have to do sometimes. Also, if they call someone else to do it, it might be their parents, and they don't want to get in even more trouble from them when they know they are wrong for what they did. It's a big responsibility that teens think they have to feel, but they are still new and learning about things, and they are just trying to do the right thing, even when it feels like they aren't at all.  I would say what type of impairment is most common to drivers today is texting, because we all have places to be and sometimes can't make it and have to text our bosses or whoever, and it's just easier to drive and text even though you're not supposed to. Also, you might be having a relationship crisis where you need to text as well, and since technology is becoming a big thing in this world, I feel like people are always going to use it. How they affect driving ability is not focusing on the road when you should be, it can make you swerve off the road and hit a car without even noticing, which can make 1 1-second turn into 5,000 dollars or more in money you have to pay someone, and even pay to get your car done again.  Even one second of looking at your phone, a crash can happen, and you would blame the phone instead of being aware of your surroundings. How they contribute to unsafe behavior is focusing solely on one thing, but not being aware of other things. Being focused and not texting even when you want to can help you more than being on your phone can, and ensure that you are being safe as well. I have experienced impaired driving from my mom; she wasn't feeling well, and I saw she wasn't and said I could drive if you needed. And you know she shrugged it off as she got it, but I asked again, and she said sure, so that made me realise sometimes you need to get help instead of stuffing it out all the time, because she could have closed her eyes for a little bit to get rest and not realise she is still driving. So that was a big lesson I learned out of that. Luckily, I could drive then, and I helped her out too. Since she's my mom and drives even when tired, she most likely thought she could drive as well, since it happens all the time, and she's used to it, which is reasonable. I also had the same story 3 months ago. I remember I was tired, and couldn't keep driving, and wanted to, but I told my mom I couldn't, and she helped as well. I could have kept driving and acted like I wasn't tired, but knowing you have help is better than thinking you're too cool for it. How driver's education and traffic school courses help change attitudes and behaviours around impaired driving, showing the causes of what you do in life and what you will get out of it. When I have a kid in the future, it will help me a lot because I was once like them and would understand what they are going through. It would make my knowledge on it better than I thought, and I would want my kid to be safe in the future as well, so understanding these things would help my kid and me. Even when I was annoyed by all these things I had to obey, I slowly realised it all makes sense, and soon it will make sense to my kid too. Even when it didn't feel important for me, it will for them, because being safe rather than doing what you want will sometimes get you hurt, even if it's a split-second thing. So it's important to know these things to keep them in your head and save them for later.
