Impaired Driving or an Impaired Driver is a driver that is not in their best state to drive. This can be purposely or accidently. I feel like some drivers, especially those people that have experience with things that could make a driver impaired (alcohol, medication, drugs) they typically look at the course and coursework of
driver's education or related studies and education and will most likely think that the rules are overexaggerated and "it isn't that serious." However what people don't try to understand is, the law is made like that not to be mean and say you can't have it at all, the law is made in that way looking at the results of such incidents and wrecks. Those that have designed Drivers' Laws, they take into understanding the risks with driving, and with lots of people's communcation, lots of time and deciding, they make the big decision to make it a law. Driver's need to take it under consideration that law makers do this to decrease risk and increase safety for all of us. A lot of people these days commit in the illegal things and you never know who around you acts in those activities. Even those that are underage are at times under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. For older people, its legal on a certain level. As per law, there are limits on what your alcohol content should be in order to be legally driving. However when a driver ignores this law, it not only puts the driver at risk, it puts those in the vehicle, those around the vehicle and those that could possibly be in the way of the vehicle at risk. There are millions of incidents where drivers are in prison just because they are told they did something to which they do not remember of because they were under the influence of drugs or alcohol and were driving in that case. Texting and fatigue, although they seem like the least illegal activity to do, and although you wouldn't feel like you simply forgot how to walk or more the less forgot to drive, they are just as dangerous. Texting is an activity that most people, especially those that are older, typically use both hands to carry out the action. And in general terms, depending in whom and for what reason you are texting, it can take up most of your focus and thinking, causing it to be a distracting factor. When the vehicle is in motion and one carries out this action, every time they do this they are putting themselves and those around them in the risk for wreck or injury. Driving is a task that needs the brains full focus and attention. A driver needs to be able to use their 5 senses effectively and their brain to make the decisions and actions needed to carry out specific and necessary actions to get to where their going safely. Fatigue goes the same way. Not feeling your best to even drive, puts on a risk as well. Whether in whichever the situation, if you are impaired to drive, it is best to call for someone else to hold the wheel, get another ride, call a friend or something but please do not risk the lives out there by sitting on the drivers seat while being impaired and not in the best state to drive. I have personally taken
Driver's Ed and have seen and heard disturbing stories of people and how their lives changed over a "minor accident" of being under the influence of driving or the related. It isn't fun to have to see someone suffer like that. It isnt fun to know someone that had to go through a similar situation. And it most certaintly isnt fun to have to put yourself at the risk to experience the same thing. For me, hearing the stories and experiences make me feel the maturity and seriousness of being put with the privelige and responsibility of being behind the wheel. Being aware of the bloody and deadly consequences of every wrong action has made me more aware of little choices I make and I advise that readers also understand these risks and the importance of being careful and serious towards the decisons they make considering driving. Taking
drivers ed has made me as a person more aware of the laws and rules of the roadway and it has made me gain a deeper understanding of the responsibility of holding a drivers license. It is like a phone being given to you to which can be taken away when you abuse its limits. I also understand the meaning and significance to the saying, "Driving is a privelige." Its a privelige to even hold a drivers license to which every person gets the chance to be able to shoot their shot into obtaining the privelige so lets treat it as just that. I also advise that people pay serious attention in these driving courses and classes as they can be good help in the future, especiallt the hands on driving courses. They are made to help you understand and build a concept of carrying out the best decision you can make out of stressing and risk involving situations on the road. When you pay attention to these things, you are able to take that experience, knowledge and skills with you behind the wheel. I advise many to try to understand the things that laws and law makers try to tell you. They dont tell you "dont run in the hallway" at school just because they want you to, they tell that to you to keep you safe. Those laws try to do the same part so take that into consideration and help those around you elimate the risks of injury and lives, and stay safe.
