The leading cause of death with motor vehicles are people being reckless may it be by drinking and driving or talking on their phone. If it was brought to people's attention the importance of educating yourself on the road rather than just driving the mortality rate would drop. There are a lot of people on the road that I know now that have not taken drivers ed and have not had a license. These people I have known tend to speed and do things that I have seen as reckless. I think that drivers ed not only is major;ly important so people understand the rules of the road but also so that people know the true risks of the road rather than just what people preserve the risks to be and what other people tell them aren't really true.  

A lot of people that I know that don't take drivers end up following what they think the rules of the road are rather than what they truly are which is extremely dangerous. Drivers ed teaches you things that you don't even think about before the test, might it be the lines of the road, or the distances you have to be behind another car. This is extremely dangerous not only to you but to the people around you. People learn in drivers ed that how they act on the road not only affects themselves but others too and that is something that is strongly important to know when you're on the road. Along with learning road laws in drivers ed you learn how your actions affect others which is a very important concept that not all drivers understand. Drivers' actions affect themselves, the people in the car with them then anyone else around them. This is a concept that some drivers find really hard to understand. However you act affects everyone around you. If you swerve into oncoming traffic and get into an accident you are not only risking your life but everyone around you. This is a concept that drivers ed teaches you that I think is majorly important.  

I have been in a car with people who have driven recklessly and have gotten away with it and on the other hand I've been in the car with people who have driven recklessly and not gotten away with it. Driving recklessly in a car can be done in many ways that may be speeding and swearing or road raging. Another important thing that drivers ed teaches is that road rage comes in many forms, may it be speaking in your own car all the way to getting out of a car. They also teach you the importance of not raging in a car. Most of my experiences with road rage has been yelling and flipping people off which is a major problem cause that can lead to a major escalation of a situation. While most people get away with driving recklessly there have been times where my friends have been pulled over with me in the car due to their speed. The last time this happened it was my friend's 2nd ticket and her license got revoked due to that. 

As a driver myself I can make sure that I'm educated in the way of the roads before I drive and make sure to keep updated on the environment around me rather than base my driving off how it normally is. A lot of drivers forget that the weather and road conditions are major things that you have to remember while driving rather than just going off the plain road laws. As a driver I will always make sure to keep an eye on the weather and keep it in account when I’m driving rather. I will slow down in the rain so I don't hydroplane and I will make sure to keep the people I'm in the car with accountable to while they drive everyone is safe. This is a concept that is very important to me because a lot of people do not realize the importance of keeping safe on the road and they don't realize how much risk actually comes with driving. I have always been more on the nervous and cautious side while driving to make sure that the people I love don't hurt themselves or have to live with hurting someone else cause I wouldn't want someone I love to have to deal with that guilt for the rest of their life. 

Driver safety is extremely important and always will be. Way to many people die yearly due to accidents that are preventable if handled correctly and if people were educated properly. Reckless driving is way too prevalent in this day of age and is something that should be talked about way more and people should be way more educated on. People need to know to watch their surroundings and that weather and road conditions make a big difference. People also need to start understanding that their actions affect others, not just themselves. These are all concepts you learn in drivers ed and these are all concepts that are extremely important in life. This is all way drivers ed is extremely important and should continue to be a requirement.
