The importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving is to show learners the proper way to drive to avoid accidents on the road. Completing driver education before you get your lisence is very essential because if you don't know the basics of safe driving, when you get on the road, you are more likely to be careless and put others as well as yourself in danger. There are a lot of people around the world who frequently drink, smoke, text, etc. and drive, and it usually ends up in an accident or near-accident. Once you do something once, it builds a habit in your brain do keep doing it. Once you drink and drive for the first time, and so you make it home safe, you will think you can do the same thing every time and nothing will happen. That type of thinking is ignorant and it is very likely you will cause problems on the road when you're constantly intoxicated, high, or distracted. Too many people lose their lives this way, and it is unfair when someone who isn't driving with some type of distraction lose their life to someone who is. Steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving are further encouraging people taking Drivers Education classes in high school or other forms to be fully sober and not be distracted while driving to prevent any casualties on the road. It is good to constantly remind people the bad effects that driving while distracted can lead to. Something as serious as death being one of the main effects should put a good amount of fear and caution in people's heart to avoid driving distracted. Another step that can be taken is to further punish people that are caught driving under the influence, texting, driving with no seatbelt, etc. Making people face consequences for their actions is one of the main ways for them to learn their lesson and stop whatever they are doing. If they are allowed to do something wrong multiple times and freely, they will think its okay to do when it's not. People who drive unsafe should be immediatley punished whether its jail time, a heavy fine, revoked liscence, etc. I have been in an accident while I was younger with my mom and her friend. Nobody was injured but the car was messed up and it was a sign to always keep aware of your surroundings on the road. I wasn't born at the time but my uncle was the driver of a car accident with his girlfriend and my mother in the car where they could have lost their lives. It was likely that he was distracted and it led to them crashing. Nobody passed away but there were slight injuries. I have seen my other uncle drive irresponsibily with me in the car. We were at his friends house and he was drinking all night with his friends. When we were leaving he drove home still intoxicated which is a safety hazard and should not be done. Thankfully, we did not get in an accident, but it was just a reminder to myself to not drive under the influence because anything could happen. Steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road is to make sure I know all the signs on the road, things I need to do before I start driving like fixing the mirrors, adjusting the seat, turning on headlights if I have to, and anything else I need to drive the proper way. I will also make sure that any time I am driving a car I will be completely sober and not distracted at all so I can drive safely. To help others become safer on the road, if I notice that someone that is driving the car that I'm in is driving intoxicated or distracted in any type of way to immediately tell them to either drop me off, pull over, or make sure they are good enough to drive me whereever we are going. This will make sure me and the other people in the car are safe. This was my essay on the importance of drivers education and driving safely on the road. This is a huge topic in the world today that I feel needs to be talked about more and given more awareness to.
